The Aromatic and Medicinal Plants Cooperative of Bni Boufrah consists of 35 women who produce
dried plants and essential oils out of aromatic plants traditionally used by moroccan women. The cooperative was
created thanks to the colaboration of two organisations: the Spanish "Codespa Catalunya" and the moroccan
"Asasha", the co-op was founded out of a development plan aiming to bring a better autonomy to the women from
Bni Boufrah (county of Al Hoceima, Morrocan Rif).
Totally financed by the "Generalitat de Catalunya", the plan enabled us to run the
whole management of the organisation, going from production to administration and marketing.
The co-op main activities are: herbs culture and collecting, carried out while respecting
the nature and environment, thanks to different kinds of training that members received. The reforestation plan
led by the cooperative allows the ecosystem to regenerate itself.
